As a community interest company (CIC), Tai Chi for Better Health (TCfBH) has long been committed to improving people’s health and quality of life through training instructors to share their Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi practice in their local communities.
TCfBH primarily trains instructors in Shibashi, which is accessible to all ages and abilities. We have trained dozens of instructors for charitable organizations such as Age UK, Versus Arthritis, and Memory Partners, several cohorts for the NHS and Cardiff Council, and hundreds of individuals.
Presently, TCfBH offers CMA-accredited instructor training in Shibashi Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3. These are three separate self-paced online courses, though passing Set 1 is a prerequisite for enrolling in Set 2 and Set 2 for Set 3.
TCfBH CMA-accredited courses are eligible for CMA CPD hours.

TCfBH courses are more than learning a form — they provide a life-changing opportunity, with caring and knowledgable instructors.
Excellent Shibashi 1 course with support guidance and teaching from a superb tutor. Mine was Mabli. Plenty of material to learn the deeper meaning , health benefits and technicalities of the 18 form.
And highly enjoyable
I completed Shibashi 1 course earlier this year with guidance and support from an excellent teacher, Tracey Lindsay. I am also enjoying finding out more about the deeper meaning and long terms physical and mental health benefits.
Highly recommended, very enjoyable, and feeling the benefits.
Coming to qigong from a yoga background I felt completely ‘at home’ with Tai Chi for Better Health. The learning experience gave me a deeper knowledge of qigong and myself. The structure of the course is well-balanced, with no pressure. Mabli,, my instructor, is very down to earth, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects. If you are considering taking a course I can 100% recommend it.
When I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2015, I had to stop training in martial arts, and was afraid of exertion that may trigger a bad flare. I found a shibashi class on my doorstep quite by chance in 2022 and by the end of my first lesson I was determined to master it. After six months I felt confident enough to go for accreditation. My instructor Mabli was very knowledgable, putting my self consciousness and anxiety at ease, and with her own experience of Lee style tai chi, something I’d trained in, she could explain things in a way I could relate to easily, and we could go more in depth so I always felt challenged and stimulated, but at my own pace so it never felt overwhelming. The feedback she gave me massively boosted my confidence and we found time to have a laugh as well. Daily practice lowered my blood pressure and helps my stiff joints loosen up, and gave me something to work on that I’ve found very enriching. I had some trouble with the website, but the course itself was well worth doing. I’ll be going for my set 2 in the new year and set 3 the year after, trying to qualify each Summer
