Aquamarine – Crystal Healing

In Latin the the name aquamarine means “water of the sea”.  

Colour and description

Aquamarine is blue to bluish grey; the colour is due to iron impurities in the structure. In the 19th century, the most sought after colour was the sea green, but nowadays the stones that fetch the higher prices are the sky blue or dark blue ones. 

Other names: Water stone, Blue-green Beryl, Seawater. 

Where is it found

All continents, with the largest supply found in Brazil. 

Hardness: 7½-8

(Talc is the softest at number 1 and diamond the hardest at number 10.)

Structure: Trigonal crystalline structure.

Uses

Crystal healers use aquamarine for the following conditions:

Drug addictions: Aquamarine helps to reduce dependence of addictive substances.  

Swollen glands: Helps strengthen the immune system. 

Other uses: Digestion, and aquamarine helps treat problems with sinuses, lymph nodes, mouth, and ears. It is reported to invigorate relationships so those who have been in a long marriage use it. It is also used as a good luck stone for those who are going for a job interview or for those taking exams.
