Teresa Wicksteed, MA, BA Hons, PGCE, MCSH, MCMA, Reiki 1 and 2
I qualified in Sound Healing with the UK College of Sound Healing in 2016. Since then I have practised using mainly Voice, in my Yurt overlooking the sea in South East Cornwall. Most of my clients are individuals, who consult with me in person in the Yurt. Since the pandemic, I have also practised Distant Healing, so now I offer either of these, and also run Intro to Sound Healing group sessions.
During an individual Sound Healing session, I intone vocal scales and mantras to move energy and unblock imbalances. By using a clear intention to send these sounds into the chakras (centres of subtle energies that affect the whole; mental, physical and emotional bodies), there is an expansion of consciousness. In my practice with individual clients, I use voice as my principal healing instrument, but for groups, I play other specialist healing instruments, including Himalayan Bowls (hand-made in Nepal) Heart Sounding Bowl (string instrument uniquely crafted by Tobias Kaye) and Shamanic Drum and Rattle (hand-made by Shamanic practitioners.) These are all vehicles that transmit strong Intention via Sound.
Everything in the Universe vibrates at its own individual frequency, including the human body. If part of our body is unwell or we have a ‘dis-ease’, then the whole body feels unbalanced. We can bring ourselves into alignment by using sympathetic vibrations and resonance. Every cell in our body, not just our hearing, enjoys and responds well to sound (if you strike a tuning fork and place it on your head or knee, you can feel in your body the vibrations the sound creates).
Also, sound travels at great speed in water (3350 mph), and we are made up of 70% water, so the beneficial sounds reach and re-align our internal organs, and harmonise physical, emotional and Energetic bodies.
